I've stayed at other Durango cgs but this one has it all - RV and tent sites, cabins, pool, immaculate restrooms, WiFi, recreation, game room, TV lounge, free nightly movies, dog exercise course, morning pancakes, nightly pizza delivery, and a great view of the city. You can choose from a tree shaded site to a deluxe cabin or park your rig and toad in one of the well prepared pull through sites. Friendly camp workers escort you to your site and then regularly tour the grounds to make sure everyone is happy. Since it's 7 miles from historic downtown, it has a woodsy, state park feel but it's close enough that you can take part in everything Durango has to offer - the narrow gauge railroad, river rafting, horseback riding, and the river trail for biking and hiking. Nearby day trips include the San Juan Skyway, Mesa Verde National Park, gold mine tours, and lots more. I will definitely go back.

Owners spoke broken English which made check ins lengthy and difficult, very little grass anywhere, several sheds filled with wood, cardboard, and assorted trash, Koi pond needed a good cleaning, and mini-golf overdue for necessary repairs. Far enough away from I-10 that there wasn't much noise but a siren went off at 4 in the morning. OK for overnight but not much more.

I've stayed in a lot of KOA's but this one has to have been the best. Staff was friendly and efficient, the cabin I stayed in was spotless, and the grounds were well cared for. The cabin was heated, there was a small yard, and ample places to walk my dog who was allowed in the cabin. CG is within reasonable distance to Gila Wilderness, hiking, and other outdoor activities. This place was great. I will definitely stay here again.

This cg was fairly well maintained although showers could have used a good cleaning. Cabins were well maintained and located along a creek (pretty dry when we were there. Nice path for dog walking and corrals in case you bring a horse. There were lots of activities for kids-playgrounds, pool, game room, horseshoes, hay rides, movies, and ice cream social. Take a pass on the Cafe-food was microwaved and not particularly tasty. McDonald's wins hands down.

This quiet, beautiful CG has been under new ownership for about a year. There are a lot of shade trees, rose bushes, and flowers planted everywhere. There's even a food service trailer that offers catfish, chicken, hot dogs, and other things. The bathrooms & showers were sparkling, the pool was inviting, and a latte/cappucino machine in the store. Owners are friendly and seemed truly concerned about the campers. We stayed in one of the camping cabins but will probably take a tent next time.

Nice campground north of town far enough away from the congestion but close enough to all the conveniences. The Animas River flows through the CG - it was reaching flood stage when we were there but that didn't cause any problem. Great base camp for Mesa Verde, Hovenweep, and San Juan Skyway. Didn't see much of the owners/managers, and the cafe, ice cream shop, and movie pavilion weren't open yet. Guess it was too early in the season. Will definitely go back.

One of the newest KOA's, this campground promises to be wonderful once the trees grow up. The store offers everything a camper might need, the restrooms and showers are beautifully decorated and immaculate, there's a unique tent corral, the many pull-thru sites are wide, and the cabins are comfortable and secure. The owners have added extra conveniences like flagstone surrounds around the fire pits and an exceptionally long dog walk area. The swimming pool wasn't open when we were there but the attractive hot tub was. This campground is located far enough away from the highway that you don't get any road noise. The only reason I gave this CG a 9 is because the trees are so small. I will definitely go back.
